Tazewell Head Start serves 167 low-income children and their
families. CVCA served children in 7 classrooms as well as 3
blended classrooms and 1 home based program. Services provided include the following:

Cost-free child development for eligible 3 and 4 year old
children and their families.

Individualized services in education and child development,
medical, dental, mental health, nutrition and parent
involvement.

Three licensed centers:
Tazewell, located at the completely renovated Carline School
site houses three classrooms, two of which are full-year
services.
Richlands, located on the SVCC Campus houses two classrooms.
Bluefield, located at the new Camp Joy.
These centers are licensed by the Virginia Department of
Social Services, Division of Licensing Programs and serve

children.

A home-based option which has one home visitor who works
with 12 children in the home environment.

A blended-based option allows 24 children to be integrated
into the Tazewell County Public School Pre-K program.
Public school teachers provide the education while CVCA
staff addresses the remaining components.

CVCA integrates fatherhood activities into its Head Start
program.
