Tazewell Head Start serves 167 low-income children and their families.  CVCA served children in 7 classrooms as well as 3 blended classrooms and 1 home based program.  Services provided include the following:

  • Cost-free child development for eligible 3 and 4 year old children and their families.

  • Individualized services in education and child development, medical, dental, mental health, nutrition and parent involvement.

  • Three licensed centers:

Tazewell, located at the completely renovated Carline School site houses three classrooms, two of which are full-year services.

Richlands, located on the SVCC Campus houses two classrooms.

Bluefield, located at the new Camp Joy.

These centers are licensed by the Virginia Department of Social Services, Division of Licensing Programs and serve 131 children.

  • A home-based option which has one home visitor who works with 12 children in the home environment.

  • A blended-based option allows 24 children to be integrated into the Tazewell County Public School Pre-K program.  Public school teachers provide the education while CVCA staff addresses the remaining components.
