Kid's Place
Kids' Place provides a safe after-school environment for the children of Tazewell County, ages 4-13. More and more families need two incomes to meet the rising cost of living. Single parent homes are increasing at a rapid rate. Studies show that one third of families needed child care in the past year. Child care programs are unavailable or unaffordable. CVCA seeks to meet these needs through after-school. The program expands to a Summer Camp during the summer months.
The program operates daily from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. five days per week and provides (1) assistance to students with homework, (2) arts and crafts, (3) interaction activities and (4) USDA-approved snacks and meals. Each site is staffed with one Teacher and one Teacher's Aide at all times. Volunteers and parents are encouraged to visit and participate in all activities. Periodic staff/parents conferences will be conducted.
Any child between the ages of four to thirteen years of age and who can either be transported by parents or schools to the designated sites is eligible to participate in the program. Fees are based on a sliding scale.
Our partnership with Tazewell County Public Schools and the United Way of the Virginias is critical, providing such a vital service to over 200 children throughout Tazewell County.
