Community Corrections Program –To ensure public safety by providing probation supervision of misdemeanant offenders and non-violent felons. The program serves the courts in Tazewell County. The program supervised 435 probationers in 2008/09 with a savings to the state and county of $368,800.
Community Safety Program – A new program that provides monitoring of eligible defendants awaiting trial. The program serves all courts in Tazewell County. The goal is to eliminate the overcrowding of the jail and save the county money on housing costs. The County Board of Supervisors sponsors the program. The program began in March of 2009 and year to date has saved the county $38,890.72.
Community Sentencing Program – To provide offenders with the opportunity to pay fines and court costs to the three courts in Tazewell County. It provides for court ordered community service for the courts also. The program served 520 offenders with 1,880 hours of community service for a value of $13,630.00.
Employer Drug Screening Program – Clinch Valley Community Action can provide random drug and alcohol screening for businesses at a very competitive rates. Screen can be run at the business sites or a Clinch Valley Community Action.
